SOVT / Straw Singing

Earlier this year Angela Reichenbach and Choir of the Earth organised two workshops with Oren Boder to explore the technique of ‘straw singing’. We had over 400 people sign up for 80 places.

So, we have designed a NEW COURSE that will allow all of you to come learn with Oren (www.rayvox.co.uk).

How it Works

Here is a short message from Oren explaining the course:

"SOVT (semi-occluded vocal tract) and “straw singing” exercises have been used by singers and voice teachers for decades. We know they work, but not everyone knows how to get the most out of the technique for their unique voice. This training course will explore how instantly transformative straw singing can be, whilst helping you to discover some of the theory behind how it all works.

We’ll explore the science of the respiratory and phonatory system as well as the science of straw phonation, and we’ll aim to find a straw configuration that works really well for your unique voice and to make those systems more efficient. The training will also include setting SMART vocal development goals, as well as helping you discover the best exercises for your voice. By the end of this course  you’ll come away with a customised size/length of straw, as well as some incredibly powerful vocal exercises to help you transform your voice.”

As Oren mentions, every voice is unique and so is each person’s straw setting. Also straw settings change with the difficulty of vocal tasks so there is a lot to learn.

The Course

The course will consist of four one hour LIVE sessions with Oren, a pre-recorded video with Angie explaining SMART goals and how they help you focus your rehearsal time, plus the opportunity to sign up for zoom sessions after the course where you can work one on one with Oren. All times are 17:30 UK Time.

Course Fee

The fee for the above course is £30.

The fees for these are £10 for participant (work with Oren 1:1), or £3 to just watch the session. We shall ask you to choose a date shortly and then email you the ZOOM link for these sessions.
