Haydn returned from London in the 1790s the most famous composer in the world, but he remained on good terms with his previous employers the Esterházy family, for whom he composed these six great masses.

The masses were produced, one per year, to celebrate the name day (12 September) of Princess Maria Hermenegild, the wife of Prince Nikolaus II and a friend of the composer.

They are sublime examples of Haydn’s genius and some of the best-loved works in the choral repertoire.

Opportunities to learn some of these Masses individually are rare, and the chance to learn all six is a unique and unmissable choral adventure for any singer.
